The Bamboo Project

Material Study

Bamboo is extensively used as a construction material in India, and is believed
to have been used all the way back to the third century B.C.
Not just for its rapid growth cycle but also its high strength-to-weight ratio.

The Bamboo Project aimed at showcasing the structural properties of the plant.
The brief was to build an ornamental structure that would also double as a space for informal social gatherings.

As a team of 20, we decided to explore the bending properties of bamboo.
